Friday Evening FIDE Blitz in Glasgow

9 Round FIDE Blitz 7:00pm to 9:30pm

Please arrive in plenty of time, we are unlikely to process any entries, after 6.30pm.
You must have a FIN or meet the qualifying requirements of Chess Scotland.
On the day entry fee is £21, cash only.

Rate of Play

Each player will have 3 minutes plus a 2 second increment per move from move 1.

Provisional Timetable

  • Rounds 1 to 5: Start 7:00
  • Rounds 6 to 9: Start 8:25
We expect the tournament to have concluded by 9:30. The timetable is advisory and we will allow a least a 15 minute break between each session. During each session, games will commence a couple of minutes after completion of the previous round in order that we can complete the tournament on time.

FIDE Identification Number (FIN)

All players must have a FIDE Identification Number (FIN)*. Chess Scotland can register players who are eligible for a Scotland (SCO). Search the FIDE website .

The results of the FIDE-rated sections of this event will be submitted to FIDE, the world chess federation. Players in these sections need to be registered with FIDE to allow the results to be submitted.

*Which must be Licenced. Former FIDE Arena players who have not registered with their national federations may fall into this category. If this is the case, it is generally resolved quite quickly by your national federation. Please enquire if you are unsure of the registration rules before deciding to enter by contacting us using our contact form.

Pairings

There will no re-pairings should players fail to appear. Players who fail to appear will be defaulted when their time runs out.

voco Grand Central Glasgow, 99 Gordon St, Glasgow G1 3SF is situated at Glasgow Central Railway station.

Please note: No food or beverages may be brought into the Hotel for consumption on the premises.
